The Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 and Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 lenses are great lenses for night photography and are fairly low-cost, but they do have somewhat complicated distortion and vignetting characteristics. Fortunately, these are easily correctable in Lightroom with a good lens profile.
The profiles below also work with the equivalent Samyang, Bower, Pro Optic, etc lenses. Although these profiles have been updated for a Canon 6D, they were originally created for, and should work fine on other full frame cameras.
Thank you Sven Stork, Thomas Berndt, and Russell Cottrell for doing all the legwork in creating these. I’ve merely updated the metadata for my Rokinon lens and/or Canon 6D model. Please pay them a visit – particularly if you have a Nikon body and just can’t bring yourself to select Canon as make when applying these in Lightroom.

After downloading, copy these .lcp files into the file location below, based on what operating system you are using:
Profile File location in Mac OS X:
- /Users/[your user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/
Note: The user Library file is hidden by default on Mac OS X 10.7 and later. For temporary access to the user Library file, press Option and choose Go > Library in the Finder.
Profile File location in Windows 7, 8 and 10:
- C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\

After copying the files, restart Lightroom, check Enable Profile Correction in the Lens Corrections section of the Develop Module. Choose Canon as make (even if your camera is not Canon), and the new profiles will appear as options under “Model”.
I haven’t tried it, but for those with a cropped sensor, the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader (Mac, Win) has a Samyang 14mm Lightroom profile (f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical lens) for the 1.6 crop factor Canon 40D (by Alban Leroux).
I’ve been very happy with both of these lenses. The lenses are very sharp if you get a good copy, and several reviews have noted that they have better coma correction than the top Canon and Nikon wide angle offerings, which is extremely important when capturing stars.
Unfortunately, as with many third party lenses, there can be quite a bit of sample variation. I did need to return the first copy of each of the two Rokinon lenses I purchased. The first copy of the 14mm lens was extremely soft on the left side unless stopped down, and the first copy of the 24mm was way too soft wide open at f1.4.

I’m trying this with the Lightroom Cloud (not the Lightroom CLASSIC) version, and put the files in my user folder (as mentioned above) on my mac. But they still do not get visible on in Lightroom. Also tried putting in in a sub-folder Samyang. And renamed the folder to Canon (as mentioned directly above here). Also does not work…

I just installed the lens profile for both jpeg and RAW to the following location and it worked perfectly:

I am using Windows 10 and LR6.
I have the Samyang 14mm 2.8 ED AS IF UMC and the Canon 6D. This lens profile is amazing and dramatically enhances the perspective with all lines being straight. The photos almost appear wider, very clean profile. Thank you for providing these for both jpeg and RAW, great work!

I had Adobe on the phone for hours – they took control of my computer and cannot get Lightroom to find them

C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\

:-/ Does not work for me!
I am on a Mac, OS Sierra, LightRoom 6.6.1 and I tried putting the profile everywhere (all the mentioned paces in here, renamed to .lcp) to no avail… It will simply not show up in the lens profile selection, no matter what I do.
@James R: The profiles under Samyang and Rokinon were probably there even before you downloaded it, but they are the ones from Adobe! This custom one- at least for me (and some others, see above) simply does not show up! 🙁 To bad…

Thank you very much for these profiles. I used Save As and then just had to delete the “.txt” which my Mac tacked on after the file name and “.lcp”. I’m using a Mac with OS 10.11.6 El Capitan, and Adobe Lightroom CC 2015.6.
The path I had to use to copy/past these profiles was:
Macintosh HD / Users / (username) / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / LensProfiles / 1.0
Worked like a charm after I quit and reopened Lightroom. The profiles worked when I selected either Samyang or Rokinon (I have the Rokinon).

I used the profile for the Canon 14mm for my first batch with the Samyang 14mm and it wasn’t quite cutting the mustard for me. I installed your profile above and it makes a huge improvement for some photos and seems a little too much on a few others (it almost seems to convert barrel distortion into pin cushion). On the whole, I’m very pleased and wish to thank you for your contribution.
Hi. I have the same problem as RJ. I’m using Lightroom CC (2015) and Safari on a Mac. I manually changed the .txt extension to .lcp but the profile corrections don’t appear in Lightroom. When I right click on each file and click “get info”, the file type in each case is “Plain Text Document”, whereas another profile correction downloaded from another site works fine and the file type is “Document”.
Very strange – any ideas?
Hi Sean. Safari also tries to be a little too helpful with changing filename extensions. To correct the extension on a Mac, you may need to change your filename preferences in the Finder (Finder->Preferences->Advanced Tab) and check the “Show all filename extensions” box. Once set, you should be able to manually change the filename extension from .txt to .lcp in any Finder/file list window. Alternately, you can try to use another browser. Firefox and Chrome don’t have this issue. Let me know how it goes!
When I “download the linked file” it just saves a file as a .txt document… I paste that into my lens corrections file and nothing works?? A little help here please, what am I doing wrong
Hi RJ. Some browsers such as Internet Explorer try to be a little too helpful by changing file extensions on saved files. Try right clicking and selecting “save link as…” or “save target as..” (depending your browser) and manually change the “.txt” extension to “.lcp” before saving. In some cases, your browser may still add a .txt or .htm extension. In this case you may need to manually rename the file extension. Let me know if this helps.
Ok, I downloaded the .lcp in chrome and that worked. Now when I open the lens correction folder and paste it in designated folder– the 1.0 folder? I re-open lightroom and its not in there??
RJ, what version of Lightroom are you using? If it is an older version, it may need to be placed in the Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles folders mentioned above. Make sure you choose Canon as make after enabling the profile correction.

Per this Adobe Photoshop support page, CS6 requires user defined lens correction profiles to be placed at the following locations:
Mac OSX:
Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/LensCorrection/1.0/Settings
Win7 and Vista:
Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/LensCorrection/1.0/Settings
Interestingly, the support page calls these .lcs files, but they do specifically say that this location is for files created with lens profile software. Please let me know if this works for you, and I’ll update the page accordingly.
This profile works great for my Samyang 14mm/2.8 on Canon 6D. It’s far better than the one I downloaded from Adoble Lens Profile downloader. Every distortion details is corrected to my eyes. Highly recommended!

Do you have any for the Canon 7dMkii ? Although its a crop sensor .. it has great results. But was looking for this correction.

I’ve updated the post with this information as well. I would think this should also work fine for your 7D Mark II. Unfortunately, I have not seen a 24mm f/1.4 profile out there for a cropped sensor.

Thanks for preparing these profiles! Having just acquired both a 6D and 14mm Lens I’ve been looking around for a lens correction profile.
I already have a profile for my 14mm but just ordered a 24mm. Really glad I don’t have to set up a test chart and make my own profile again! We have the same camera body, too, so I don’t even have to muck around editing the profile metadata. Thanks a bunch, you’re awesome!
